A little about the history of Aston Martin
In 1913 Robert Bamford and Lionel Martin fitted four cylinder Coventry-Simplex engine to chassis of a 1908 Isotta-Fraschini racing car designed by Bugatti.
They named their car Aston Martin, after Lionel Martin and the Aston Clinton hill climb racing course, where the pair had already achieved racing success. Their first production car was completed in
1919, and the company’s joint preoccupation with production cars and racing success was established.
Sandown Coachworks offers Aston Martin owners an unrivalled personal engineering service based on the principles that inspired the original founders’ dream.
